Lucie Ketelsen

Lucie Ketelsen, M.Res. (Des), BA (FineArt) (Hons), is a designer and practice-based researcher. She holds a Master of Design (textiles) from RMIT Melbourne and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. investigating art-science intersections through the School of Design at The University of Western Australia (UWA). Her work reimagines the role of aesthetics and craft in processes of technological mediation, inscription, and translation. Her design practice and theory have been published and presented internationally including APRIA Journal (ArtEZ Platform for Research Interventions of the Arts), Fast Fashion/Slow Fashion Studio (Goethe Institute and RMIT), Reshape Barcelona, Fondazione Mondo Digitale, AltaRoma, Fab15, Practice Research Symposia (PRS) and Colloquia (RMIT Melbourne and Saigon), FAHA Symposium (UWA) and a SymbioticA residency and public seminar. Her Ph.D. candidacy at UWA was established through the support of SymbioticA: Centre for Excellence in Biological Arts. Her research involves extensive practical experimentation in laboratory and microscopic imaging protocols to develop a theory of aesthetics adequate to current microscopy practices.
