Lukas R. A. Wilde
Dr Lukas R. A. Wilde is an associate professor at the Department of Art and Media Studies of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU Trondheim). His media studies dissertation on the functions of kyara (‘characters’) within everyday communication of contemporary Japanese society was awarded the Roland-Faelske-Award 2018 for the best dissertation in comics and animation studies as well as the GIB Dissertation Award 2021 of the society for the interdisciplinary study of pictures. His article ‘Material conditions and semiotic affordances: Natsume Fusanosuke’s many fascinations with the lines of Manga’ was recognized with an honourable mention for the 2021 Martin Schüwer publication prize for outstanding comics studies. He is the vice president of the German Society for Comic Studies (ComFor) and one of the organizers and founders of the digital artists initiative Comic Solidarity and the GINCO Award (The German Inclusive Comic Award of the Independent Scene).
