Luke Munn

Luke Munn is a media studies scholar based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa New Zealand. His research investigates the sociocultural impacts of digital cultures and their broader intersections with race, politics and the environment. This wide-ranging work spans from data infrastructures in Asia to platform labour and far-right radicalization and has been featured in highly regarded journals such as Cultural Politics, Big Data & Society and New Media & Society as well as popular forums like The Guardian, the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post. He has written three books: Unmaking the Algorithm (Meson Press, 2018), Logic of Feeling (Rowman & Littlefield, 2020) and Automation Is a Myth (Stanford University Press, 2022). Drawing from his artistic practice and media, race and cultural studies, his work combines practice-based approaches with contextual readings and critical analysis.
