Lutgard Lams

Lutgard Lams is an associate professor in pragmatics, media discourse analysis and intercultural communication at the Faculty of Arts, KU Leuven Campus Brussel. Her research interests include the pragmatics of language and ideology in media discourse, media representation practices about the self and the other, identity politics and official discourse in the Chinese/Taiwanese context. Her recent publications include ‘Strategies of symbolic meaning construction in Chinese official discourse’ (2014), published in her co-edited volume on totalitarian discourses by Peter Lang Publishers, and ‘China: Economic magnet or rival? Framing of China in the Dutch- and French-Language elite press in Belgium and the Netherlands’, published in International Communication Gazette (2016).
