Madeline Taylor

Dr Madeline Taylor is both a maker and a researcher of costume. Her research primarily explores contemporary costume practice, design collaboration and social engagement using clothing, with a developing interest in sustainable consumption and textile circularity. A lecturer in fashion at Queensland University of Technology, she holds a Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne. She has almost twenty years of experience costuming theatre, dance, opera, contemporary performance and film around Australia and the United Kingdom. She is a co-director of The Stitchery Collective, a Brisbane-based design group and was Australian editor for the World Scenography, 1990–2005, Volume 2 (OISTAT, 2014). Receiving a 2024 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Marie Postdoctoral Fellowship, she will be based at Aalto University, Finland in 2025 whilst researching technical innovation in costume practice.
