Marcelo Capello Martins

Marcelo Capello is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Philosophy at PUC-Rio. His research is an attempt to criticize the technophile discourse, i.e., the discourse that blindly describes technological benefits, but does not take into account the problematic side and the potential dangers of the technological phenomenon. Having Jacques Ellul as the main reference, the research also brings to the discussion works of different fields of knowledge, seeking interdisciplinarity. Marcelo was a member at-large of the Media Ecology Association from March 2022 until December 2023. He is interested in the following research fields: philosophy of technology, media ecology, contemporary philosophy, political philosophy and philosophy of the environmental catastrophe.
