Margriet Schavemaker
Margriet Schavemaker specializes in modern and contemporary culture and museums. As artistic director of the Amsterdam Museum, Schavemaker is responsible for the museum’s collection and programming, with a focus on co-creation, working with artists and decolonizing the museum. She teaches in the Media Studies department at the University of Amsterdam. She is the author of The White Cube as Lieu de Mémoire: The Return of History in the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (2017) and co-editor of Facing Forward: Art and Theory from a Future Perspective (2015). Schavemaker is the founding editor of Stedelijk Studies.
