Maria João Cunha

Maria Joao Cunha is an associate professor in ISCSP, University of Lisboa, co-founding member and integrated researcher of CIEG, in matters related to gender and communication. Cunha graduated in social communication and mastered in sociology from ISCSP, University of Lisboa. She completed her Ph.D. in communication sciences, specialized in sociology of communication. Cunha was the co-coordinator of the Gender and Sexuality section of the Portuguese Sociological Association until 2018. She is the reviewer for scientific journals in communication, youth and gender studies and apart from scientific papers; she is the author of several books on communication, sociology and image. She has developed research projects concerning gendered media representations of vulnerable groups and gender violence.
