Maria Raquel Freire
Maria Raquel Freire is a researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES) and an assistant professor, with agregação, of international relations at the University of Coimbra’s economics faculty (FEUC). She is sub-director of the FEUC and co-coordinator of the CES Humanities, Migration and Peace Studies group (NHUMEP – Núcleo de Estudos sobre Humanidades, Migrações e Estudos para a Paz). Her research interests focus on peace studies, particularly on peacekeeping and peacebuilding, foreign policy, international security and Russia and the former Soviet Union. She has several publications in this field, and is the author, among other, of Conflict and Security in the Former Soviet Union: The Role of the OSCE (Aldershot: Ashgate, 2003).
