Marian Wilson Kimber
Marian Wilson Kimber is Associate Professor of Musicology at The University of Iowa. She has published widely on the lives, music, and historical receptions of the composers Felix Mendelssohn and Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, as well as on musical melodrama in the long nineteenth century. In 2009 Wilson Kimber was the keynote speaker for a conference in Seoul sponsored by three Korean Universities celebrating the two hundredth anniversary of Mendelssohn’s birth. Wilson Kimber is currently working on a book about the roles of female elocutionists and composers in the creation of American melodrama tentatively titled, Feminine Entertainments: Women, Music, and the Spoken Word.
