Marie-Louise James

Marie-Louise James is a Ph.D. candidate in the German Department at Princeton University. Her research situates questions of nostalgia and memory at the intersection of aesthetics and politics in the twentieth century. Her approach is transnational and interdisciplinary, with particular focus on artistic exchanges between Italian and German-speaking contexts. She has published articles in Zeitschrift für Ideengeschichte (2023), The Publications of the English Goethe Society (2021) and The Cambridge Journal of Law, Politics, and Art (2021). She is co-editor of the forthcoming volume Uncanny Environments (Textem, 2025, co-edited with Konstantin Haensch and Matthias Planitzer).
