Marina Tsaplina
Marina Tsaplina is a NYC-based performing artist, disability advocate, Kienle scholar in the Medical Humanities and Associate of the Health Humanities Lab at Duke University. She trains medical students and clinicians through puppetry and physical theatre on embodiment and disability. She has the great privilege of working as an art specialist with people with intellectual disabilities at AHRC-NYC. Her research is in object ontology, puppetry, disability, science and technology studies, and indigenous/traditional ways of knowing. Her current theatrical work, Illness Revelations and the Bodies of History + Medicine + Us, explores beauty, violence and the eugenics impulse in our culture and in ourselves.
