Mario Tirino

Mario Tirino is a researcher at the University of Salerno. His main research interests include sociology of digital cultures, mediology of literature and comics and sociology of sports cultures. On these topics he wrote the volume ‘Post-spectatorship’. The Experience of Cinema in the Digital Age (2020) and more than one hundred articles, published in scholarly journals and collective volumes. He directs the scientific series ‘L’Eternauta: Studies on comics and media’ (with G. Frezza and L. Di Paola) and ‘Binge watchers: Media, sociology and the history of seriality’ (with M. Teti). He is a member of the Center for Studies ‘Media Culture Society’ at the University of Salerno and of the D/Cult – critical observatory on digital cultures at the University of Ferrara. He took part in the European Union-funded research projects ‘Teseo’ (2019–21, on media literacy) and ‘Elephant’ (2020–22, on e-learning).
