Marios Chatziprokopiou
Marios Chatziprokopiou is a teaching fellow at the Department of Theatre Studies, University of Patras, and a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Centre for the Humanities, Athens, Greece. He holds an MA in Social Anthropology (School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences, Paris) and a Ph.D. in Theatre and Performance Studies (Aberystwyth University, United Kingdom). Based on fieldwork research in Athens and Piraeus, his thesis studies theatrical and ritual performances of lamentation by displaced people. His publications examine contemporary adaptations of ancient drama by refugees and asylum-seekers; migrant theatre and the role of cultural institutions; performance, public space and religious otherness; performance and the question of the archive. He has taught courses on theatre, performance and anthropology in universities in Brazil, the United Kingdom and Greece, and has presented his performance work in Greece and abroad. He translates Clarice Lispector from Portuguese into Greek.
