Extensive experience in space instrumentation and systems design and engineering. Involved actively in ten space missions with roles from data analysis to launch site and flight operations. Member of UK Space Agency’s Space Technology Advisory Group. Co-Director of Diagnostics Development Unit based at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Non-executive Director National Space Centre, Leicester. Beagle 2 Mission Manager 1998–2004. 105 publications with contributions to four books. Research interests: photonics, instrumentation, space engineering.
