Mark Wisniewski is a lecturer in English at Vanderbilt University. His research primarily focuses on the colonial implications of early modern depictions of outer space and alternative worlds. As a doctoral candidate, he worked as an assistant for the Marquette University Archives and Special Collections, where he contributed to various projects related to the university’s J. R. R. Tolkien collections. Working with Tolkien-themed fanzines, as well as his existing interests in fantasy literature, introduced him to the field of fan studies.
