Markus Montola
Markus Montola (M.Soc.Sc.) is a Helsinki-based games researcher and a game designer. His main research interests are role-playing games, pervasive games and playful experiences. He is working on a doctoral dissertation on pervasive role-playing at the University of Tampere School of Information Sciences. He is an author of Pervasive Games: Theory and Design (2009) and an editor of three books on live-action role-playing Nordic Larp (2011), Playground Worlds (2008) and Beyond Role and Play (2004). He has also served as an editor for the International Journal of Role-Playing, and he is one of the founders of the DiGRA RPG SIG.
Markus Montola is also an active role-player and gamer in his private life.
