Martin Potter
Martin Potter is based at Deakin University, where he is a researcher in the School of Communication and Creative Arts and member of the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship & Globalisation. Martin creates participatory, transmedia programmes including SxSW award-winning Big Stories, Small Towns (bigstories.com.au), the White Building in Cambodia (whitebuilding.org), Island Connect in Sri Lanka and the TED prize-winning Stereopublic: crowdsourcing the quiet. His focus is on facilitating work that supports marginalized groups and individuals to tell and share their stories. Martin also produces documentaries in Australia and overseas, including twenty hours of commissioned broadcast television. His projects have received over $8 million in competitive grant funding from international funders. He is a director of the Big Stories Co. (bigstories.co), board member for the non-profit video for change organization Engage Media (engagemedia.org) and investigator for the Centre of Excellence for Advancing Biodiversity and Heritage (epicaustralia.org.au).
