Mary Stokrocki

Mary Stokrocki is a professor in the School of Art in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts and affiliate faculty member with Arizona State University’s Barrett Honors College and the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Her research centres on multicultural teaching and learning in the United States, including Yaqui, Pima/Maricopa, Ak-Chin, Apache and Navajo reservations in Arizona, as well as internationally in the Netherlands, Poland, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Croatia and Turkey. Professor Stokrocki has authored seven books, more than 25 book chapters and 120 journal articles. Her awards and honours include the 2014 Distinguished Lecture Award and Address in Education (autobiography) and the 36th honoree in the History of Art Education for her ethnographic research. She has presented her work at more than 100 national and international conferences. She holds memberships or served on the board of a number of professional associations, including the American Anthropological Association, American Educational Research Association, Arizona Art Education Association, Gold Canyon Arts Council, International Art Education Association, International Society for Education through Art, National Art Education Association, New Media Consortium, Society for Visual Anthropology, Superstition Area Arts Cultural Alliance and United States Society for Education through Art.
