Mathieu Rondeau

Graduate student in cinema studies at the University of Toronto and holder of a degree in Asian studies from the University of Montreal, Mathieu Rondeau is interested in studying Japanese animation to shed light on the country’s political, cultural and socio-economic operations. He is currently studying the different ways animated characters have established a connection with their audience, arguing that there is undoubtedly something ‘real’  behind the genuine happiness expressed by those interacting with fictional entities that should be investigated.
