Max Kramer

Max Kramer is a post-doctoral researcher at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany. His research interests include documentary films in South Asia, political Islam, online politics, Hindi film, literature and cultural theory. In 2017 he obtained his Ph.D. on ‘Mobility and testimony: Independent documentary practices and the Kashmir conflict’ at the Institute for Asia and African Studies at Humboldt University in Berlin. His most recent publications include ‘Mobilizing conflict testimony: A lens of mobility for the study of documentary film practices in the Kashmir conflict’ (2017) in the journal Social Sciences, ‘Skeptical political mimesis: Sanjay Kak’s “Series on Indian Democracy” and the voice of documentary’ (2016) in the Belgrade Journal of Media and Communications, and the book chapter ‘Filming Kashmir: Emerging documentary practices’ in the book New Media Configurations and Socio-Cultural Dynamics in Asia and the Arab World, edited by Nadja-Christina Schneider and Carola Richter (Bloomsbury, 2015).
