Maximillian Kenyon

Maximillian Kenyon is a Ph.D. candidate at RMIT University researching the effects of SVoDs on the cultural, industrial and aesthetic paradigms of contemporary Australian cinema. With foundations in historicized Australian national cinema research and cultural policy studies of the revival/post-revival period, Max’s research is concerned with the conflation of traditional Australian cinema scholarship, textual/genre theory, national/cultural studies and cultural policy analysis with contemporary theories of globalization and transnationalism, to uncover the role and qualification of the ‘national’ in the age of SVoDs. Max is currently focused on the Australian national SVoD Stan and its ‘Original’ films within the Australian Cinema category, analysing how certain texts relate to historical understandings of Australian cinema and identity whilst exemplifying contemporary shifts within the film/TV industry and wider national culture.
