Mazhar Al-Zo’by

Mazhar Al-Zo’by is an associate professor of culture and politics in the Department of International Affairs at Qatar University. His interests, both in research and teaching, focus principally on the politics of representation, identity and social change in the context of globalization. While his work is comparative in nature, his area of focus is the Muslim world in general and the Arab world in particular. Among the critical issues on which his teaching and writing have concentrated are the role of culture in the production of hegemony, media and identity, social movements, colonial discourse and the World System.
