Melissa Marzán
Melissa Marzán, DrPH, MPH, CPH, is an epidemiologist and public health specialist focused on community-based interventions to reduce health disparities among Hispanic/Latino populations. She is an assistant professor at Ponce Health Sciences University’s Public Health Program. She is certified in public health by the National Public Health Board of Examiners. She has worked as an epidemiologist for the HIV Surveillance Office at Puerto Rico’s Department of Health and for the Quarantine Station (Centers for Disease Prevention [CDC]) in Puerto Rico. Her peer-reviewed publications have appeared in journals such as: American Journal of Public Health, Journal of International Association of Providers of AIDS Care and AIDS Care and Annals of Epidemiology, among others. Her research areas include: social epidemiology, HIV/HPV prevention, social determinants of health, community-based interventions and implementation science. She currently supports COVID-19 response in PR as a chief epidemiology officer for Puerto Rico’s Department of Health.
