Meredith Jones

Meredith Jones is professor of gender and culture based at Brunel University London where she directs the Institute of Communities and Society. She holds a BA Honours (first class) from the University of Sydney 1998 and a Ph.D. in cultural studies from Western Sydney University (2006). Professor Jones’s books include Skintight: An Anatomy of Cosmetic Surgery (Berg, 2008), Cosmetic Surgery: A Feminist Primer (Ashgate, 2008), Beautyscapes: Mapping Cosmetic Surgery Tourism (Manchester University Press, 2019) and Performing the Penis: Phalluses in 21st Century Cultures (Routledge, 2022). Beautyscapes: Mapping Cosmetic Surgery Tourism (written with Ruth Holliday and David Bell) won the 2020 Foundation for Sociology of Health and Illness Prize.
