Meredith Tromble

Writer and artist Meredith Tromble is an influential figure in the expanding world of art and biology, with a practice that uses drawing, performance, installation and writing to explore emotion and knowledge. She is co-editor, with Charissa Terranova, of The Routledge Companion to Biology in Art & Architecture (2017); editor of The Art and Films of Lynn Hershman Leeson (2005), from University of California Press; and author of hundreds of short form writings on art including "Art & Shadows," a blog on contemporary art in light of contemporary science, funded by the Art Writers Grant Program of the Andy Warhol Foundation. She has been artist-in-residence at the Complexity Sciences Center (CSC) at the University of California, Davis (UCD), since 2011, collaborating with geobiologist Dawn Sumner and recently, choreographer Donna Sternberg. Tromble is Professor, Interdisciplinary Studies and Art & Technology at the San Francisco Art Institute.
