Michael Anthony DeAnda

Michael Anthony DeAnda is a professional lecturer in the College of Computing and Digital Media at DePaul University. He earned his Ph.D. in technology and humanities at Illinois Institute of Technology. DeAnda researches LGBTQ+ lived experiences to consider how these may inspire game mechanics, interrogating the extent to which games may envision queer worldbuilding. He uses game design as research praxis and develops games to broaden understandings of gender and sexuality. His online alternate-reality game Bulge Lab has been showcased at the Queerness and Games Conference, the Different Games Conference, Digital Frontiers and the Melbourne Queer Games Festival.
