Michael C. Brose
Michael Brose completed his Ph.D. in 2000 from University of Pennsylvania, Asian & Middle East Studies. It focused on the history of Central Asian elites in Mongol China. While he continues to work on that broad topic, his research on Yunnan in the Mongol period led him to his second main research field, the history and contemporary status of Chinese Muslims in Yunnan Province, which includes fieldwork on the halal food industry. Michael will become the Director of the East Asian Studies Center at Indiana University, Bloomington, in Fall 2017.
