Michael Slowik
Michael Slowik is an associate professor of film studies at Wesleyan University. He is the author of After the Silents: Hollywood Film Music in the Early Sound Era, 1926–1934 (Columbia University Press, 2014). His articles, many of which focus on film sound and the early sound era, have appeared in American Music; Cinema Journal (now Journal of Cinema and Media Studies); Film History: An International Journal; Hitchcock Annual; Journal of Film and Video; Journal of Popular Film and Television; Music and the Moving Image; Music, Sound, and the Moving Image; New Review of Film and Television Studies; Nineteenth-Century Theatre and Film; Quarterly Review of Film and Video; and The Journal of American Culture. His next book, an examination of the films of Rouben Mamoulian, is under contract with Oxford University Press.
