Michael Sooriyakumaran

Michael Sooriyakumaran is a Ph.D. student in cinema studies at the University of Toronto. For his dissertation, he will be re-examining the political modernist cinema of the 1960s and 1970s as a transnational group style that filmmakers such as Danièle Huillet and Jean-Marie Straub, and Oshima Nagisa adapted to varying political and institutional circumstances. His writing has appeared in Offscreen and Frames Cinema Journal.
