Michel De Dobbeleer
Michel De Dobbeleer (Ph.D., Ghent University, 2012) is a slavist, classicist and Italianist, who has published about European siege narratives, Bakhtinian chronotopes, the reception of Dutch literature in Eastern Europe and ‘transnational mentions’ in literary histories. Regarding comics, he was a chairman (since 2017) of the Comics Advisory Board of the Flemish Literature Fund (2014–18) and has published on comics adaptations of East European classics, (ultra)minor comics, siege chronotopes, ‘real’/alternate histories and graphic children’s poetry. Currently, he is a member of the Assemblée Générale/Algemene Vergadering of the Belgian Comic Strip Center (Brussels, 2021–present) and part of the editorial board of Stripgids (2020–present). As a post-doctoral researcher he focuses on the Jommeke series (1955–present), confronting its twentieth-century Flemish context with the child-related topics of the Ghent-based COMICS project (2020–present).
