Michele Grossman

Michele Grossman is Professor of Cultural Studies and Research Chair in Diversity and Resilience at the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation at Deakin University. She is also the Convenor of the Australianbased Addressing Violent Extremism and Radicalisation to Terrorism (AVERT) research network and director of the Collaborative Centre of Excellence for Resilient Communities and Inclusive SocieHes (CERCIS). Michele’s expertise lies in addressing and countering violent extremism within communities, and understanding terrorism in diverse gender and cultural contexts. Her research has had both national and international policy impacts, particularly in relation to developing new approaches and understandings related to community reporting of violent extremism; youth vulnerability and resilience to violent extremism; gender roles in supporting and opposing violent extremism; and the reintegration of child and women returnees from conflict zones.
