Michiyo Yoneno-Reyes

Michiyo Yoneno-Reyes (米野みちよ), Ph.D., is an associate professor of the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia, University of Tokyo, and the Executive Editor of the International Journal of Asian Studies. She has been publishing extensively on music and culture of the Philippines and migration issues between the Philippines and Japan. She is an editor of East Asia Popular Culture: Philippine Perspectives (2013), special issue editor of ‘Filipino Nurse Migration under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA)’, Asian Studies: Journal of Critical Perspectives on Asia 52:2 (2016), ‘Cultural Hybridities of the Philippines’, Asian Studies: Journal of Critical Perspectives on Asia 47 (2011) and ‘The Nikkeijin’, Asian Studies: Journal of Critical Perspectives on Asia 44:1 (2008). She is a contributor to Global Goes Local: Popular Culture in Asia (edited by Timothy J. Craig, 2002), The Philippines and Japan in America’s Shadow (edited by Kiichi Fujiwara and Yoshiko Nagano, 2011), among others.
