Mihaela Cristina Ionescu

Mihaela Cristina Ionescu is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Taiwan cultural studies in the Department of Taiwan Languages, Literature and Culture (TLLC) at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), with a focus on the multifaceted contribution of Taiwanese Humanitarian Buddhism and of Taiwanese Buddhist organizations to the Taiwanese society and to the world at large. Her interest in the field began in high school, when she started studying traditional Chinese culture and Chinese language. She holds a BA in Oriental studies from Sapienza University of Rome focusing on Chinese, Japanese and Sanskrit and with a major in religion and philosophy and an MA from UNINT University of Rome in translation and interpretation (Chinese/English/Italian). Raised in a multicultural environment, she has studied more than twenty languages, but is focusing mostly on Romanian, Italian, English, Chinese and classical Tibetan in recent years.
