Min-Sun Kim

Min-Sun Kim (Ph.D., Michigan State University) is a professor at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She has published more than 120 book chapters, reviews, books and refereed articles in the area of intercultural communication and communication in general. As sole author, she has written the book Non-Western Perspectives on Human Communication (Sage, 2002). The book was also translated into Korean and published by Communication Books Press (2009), receiving the National Academy of Sciences Book Award given by the Government of the Republic of Korea. She has co-authored the books Changing Korea: Implications for Culture and Communication (Peter Lang, 2008) and Hanryu: Its Influence in Asia and Beyond (Seoul National University Press, 2011). She served as the editor of Korean Studies, a journal published by the Center for Korean Studies at UH Manoa, chair of the Intercultural Communication Division of the International Communication Association, and president of the Korean American Communication Association. She was a founding fellow for the International Academy of Intercultural Relations. In fall 2010, she was invited to serve as a Fulbright specialist scholar in the Department of World Cultures at the University of Helsinki, Finland.
