Mitchell Stephens
Mitchell Stephens is a professor of journalism at New York University’s Carter Institute in the United States. He is the author or co-author of nine books, including A History of News (Viking, Penguin, Oxford), a New York Times ‘notable book of the year’, which has been translated into five languages, The Rise of the Image the Fall of the Word (Oxford), Imagine There’s No Heaven: How Atheism Helped Create the Modern World (Palgrave Macmillan), Beyond News: The Future of Journalism (Columbia) and Journalism Unbound: New Approaches to Writing and Reporting (Oxford). His latest book, The Voice of America: Lowell Thomas and the Invention of 20th-Century Journalism (St. Martin’s), received the 2018 Sperber Prize, as the year’s best journalism biography.
