Moema Gregorzewski

Moema Gregorzewski is a research fellow in the Centre for Arts and Social Transformation, Faculty of Education and Social Work, Waipapa Taumata Rau University, and an applied theatre practitioner facilitating the Applied Theatre Company’s domestic violence awareness and prevention programme, Everyday Theatre, in intermediate schools across Aotearoa New Zealand. Her research focuses on how the arts, and specifically participatory theatre processes, can contribute to social equality and community wellbeing. Her Ph.D. dissertation explored how applied theatre can challenge right-wing populist ideologies in the former German Democratic Republic and her current research project examines how drama education can act as a potent pedagogy to deliver mental health education in New Zealand primary schools. As part of a research team hosted by the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, she is also investigating how collaborative arts-based research methods such as digital storytelling can capture research participants’ complex experiences of caregiving in Aotearoa New Zealand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
