Muhammad Hendra Himawan

Muhammad Hendra Himawan, M.Sn., is an independent curator, art researcher and writer. He works in and affiliates with communities of artists, academics, NGO activists and villagers to build cross-disciplinary collaborative work, create new spaces for alternative art practices to the public and examine the extent to which art can directly contribute to social change. Involved with various art projects, he often represents Indonesia in community-based art projects based on relational aesthetics and participatory work practices. Currently living in Yogyakarta, he also teaches at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Indonesia Institute of the Arts, Surakarta (ISI).
