Muhammad Shajjad Ahsan

Muhammad Shajjad Ahsan is a professor at Jahangirnagar University in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Among the core undergraduate and postgraduate disciplines he has taught include theatre, advertising, adaptations, screenwriting, media production, film studies, television studies, directing for media, acting for media and research methods. Prof. Ahsan’s key research interests in the creative and cultural sectors of Bangladesh. Media education, media workforce, technological integration, media production and innovation, media audiences, media policies and regulations are among his research interests. Through his research he usually put forward various policies for consideration or discussion on media industry and practices. In 2022, his solo-authored book, Digital Filmmaking: Pre-Production Phase, will be published in Dhaka by Bangla Academy for Bengali readers. He is currently working on a solo-authored book for Bangladeshi readers called Television Studies: Bangladesh Perspective. Professor Ahsan has been awarded a minor grant to undertake research on the ‘Nature and acceptability of local television programs broadcasting in Bangladesh’. The book Social Transformation and Multipolarization of Muslim Societies in South Asia: Toward an Integrated Understanding of Structural Change and Islamism in Bangladesh has approved a proposed chapter of Prof. Ahsan’s titled ‘Bipolar presentation of Islamic and secular beliefs in the television media of Bangladesh’.
