Muna Güvenç

Muna Güvenç is an assistant professor of architectural history in the Department of Fine Arts at Brandeis University. Her work explores the intersections of contemporary social theory, urban theory, and the politics of architecture in the Global South. Her current project, ‘The City is Ours: Spaces of Political Mobilization and Imaginaries of Sovereignty in Turkey’, offers a critical account of how the built environment has mediated the rise of Kurdish nationhood in the absence of a Kurdish-nation state, offering a new approach to understanding how urbanism provides opportunities to conduct political mobilization for minority groups exposed to state-sponsored violence.
