Naif Khalaf Althaqeel
Naif Althaqeel is associate professor in the Department of Media – College of Arts at King Saud University, and holds a Ph.D. in drama from the University of Exeter. He is the general director of the Saudi Arabia Society for Culture and Arts (SASCA). He has participated in Saudi theatre as an actor and director since 1998. In addition, he has participated as an actor in TV drama and recently played the leading role in two Saudi films produced in 2022. He is interested in Saudi theatre and the Arab theatre, and TV drama. His publications include: The History of Saudi Theatre (chair of Saudi Literature, King Saud University, 2017), ‘The beginning of theatre in Saudi Arabia’, Performing Islam, 2017, and ‘The director and the directing experience in the Saudi theatre’, in The Arab Journal of Media and Communication, 2017.
