Nancy Micklewright
Until recently, Nancy Micklewright (Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania) was head of public and scholarly engagement at the Smithsonian’s Freer and Sackler Galleries. From 2010–19 Micklewright was editor-in-chief of the scholarly journal Ars Orientalis. Previously she had been senior program officer at the Getty Foundation, after having taught the history of Islamic art and architecture and the history of photography at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, and the University of Michigan. She is currently working on a book entitled Dressing for the Camera: Fashion and Photography in the Late Ottoman Empire, an examination of visual culture and identity formation in the late Ottoman period.
