Nancy Thomas is currently senior deputy director at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). After receiving her Ph.D. in Egyptian Art History from the University of California, Los Angeles, she was hired by the museum to be the first curator of Egyptian art. She broadened her role at the museum, assuming administrative duties supervising the curators and conservators and other art-related activities such as acquisitions, collection management, registration and publications. More recently, she has focused on curatorial work, and with the acquisition of the Masco Collection (2007) and the Blackburn Collection (2016) she has expanded the museum’s projects in the area of Pacific Art.
