Natalia Puerta

Natalia Puerta is a full-time professor of music pedagogy at the School of Music in the Faculty of Integrated Arts at Universidad del Valle. She holds a master’s degree in music education from the Institute of Education at University College London (IOE-UCL) and is a Ph.D. candidate in the social impact of music at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (GSMD) and the International Platform for Research on the Social Impact of Making Music (SIMM). She holds a bachelor’s degree in musical arts from the Academia Superior de Artes de Bogotá at Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. With twelve years of experience as an advisor and academic coordinator for educational and artistic music projects, she has worked across various levels and settings. She coordinated the music education component of the National Music Plan for Coexistence (PNMC) with the Ministry of Culture and has advised numerous institutions, including Comfenalco Antioquia, the Bogotá Philharmonic and the Medellín Music Schools Network. She currently researches the human and social impact of music education in municipal schools, focusing on the Canto por la Vida project in Ginebra, Valle del Cauca.
