Nerys Young

Nerys Young is a lecturer in American history at Ulster University. Her research interests are in American screen history, with a current focus on connections between US Senate hearings and film/television in the 1950s. She is the treasurer for the Irish Association for American Studies (IAAS), and co-founder of the Guilty Pleasures conference series, which lets academics explore their secret love of the small screen. She recently gave the annual WA Emmerson Lecture for the IAAS, entitled: ‘Captive city, captive audience: Film, television, and the Kefauver crime hearings’.
