Nick Cherryman
Nick Cherryman is an academic that works at the intersections between gender studies, feminist theory and queer theory. They hold an MA in gender, sexuality and culture from the University of Manchester and are currently working towards their Ph.D. in gender studies. They have presented research at several international conferences, and their primary interest is on theoretical readings of form and bodies in drag performance, with their Ph.D. research looking at non-gendered and posthuman drag performances. They have a multidisciplinary approach that explores the broad fields of gender, media, visual culture, literary and cultural theory and feminist/queer theory, and they are influenced through their training as a transdisciplinary scholar where they felt the focus on a singular approach limited the scope of their research. They regularly perform as drag artist Ibi Profane alongside their studies and are particularly interested in drag as a pedagogic tool. They can be found on Instagram at @IbiProfane and Twitter at @NCherryman.
