Nigel Owen

Nigel Owen graduated with a degree in graphic design from Central St Martins College of Art & Design in 1989. He immediately began his career as a freelance illustrator based in variety of studios throughout London. He has worked for numerous clients worldwide, including amongst others New Scientist, Penguin Books, Faber & Faber, The Guardian, United Airlines, The National Geographic and The Independent. A highlight of his career are the 28 covers that he has produced for the renowned Lancet Medical Journal. Nigel has won both Silver and Bronze Awards in the IMAGES Illustration Awards (Now the World Illustration Awards). He has been represented by both Central Illustration Agency in London and Bernstein & Andriulli in New York. He has also exhibited on both sides of the Atlantic. In 2001 Nigel began his career as an illustration lecturer at Falmouth University and in 2010 he became ‘Head of Illustration’, a post that he stepped down from in 2018 to enable him to pursue a Ph.D. He currently is the course leader of BA(Hans) Illustration and continues to work on freelance illustration commissions. His last job being to produce three more covers for the Lancet Medical Journal.
