Paolo Bitanga
Paolo ‘Fiction’ Bitanga is a Filipino American writer and filmmaker based in New York City. A practising breaker since 2007, Paolo assumed the alias ‘Fiction’ given his knack for storytelling. He spent the last decade documenting the Filipino street dance scene starting with his 2010 feature-length documentary, Pinoy B-boy, which followed the first ever Philippine team to battle at the R-16 World Championships. His writing has been published on The Red Bulletin, Forbes and award-winning Filipino news site Rappler, where he first chronicled the country’s Olympic dance journey. In 2021, Paolo co-founded the B-boy & B-girl Association of the Philippines (BBAP), a national organization devoted to developing break dance as both art and sport. Having completed his MBA at Columbia Business School in 2023, Paolo provides strategic support for businesses geared towards positive cultural impact.
