Peter Dorrington

Dr Peter Dorrington is a senior lecturer in the College of Engineering spanning the mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering portfolios. His interests span across the area of engineering design and manufacture, focusing on bespoke medical device design, emerging technologies such as 3D printing and collaborative and design-led practices. Dr Dorrington is a part of Swansea University’s Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre (LTEC), which leads the way in introducing new pedagogical approaches to teaching practice, including virtual reality and problem-based engineering. He has delivered numerous projects that have successfully transferred academic knowledge and skills into the industrial and commercial sector. Prior to his lecturing career, Peter worked at a research and design consultancy (https://www.pdr-online.com/) to initially lead the patient-specific medical design centre, and then being promoted to research fellow. He completed his undergraduate degree in product design and manufacture, thereafter working in industry as a design engineer and applied researcher with the manufacturing advisory service, Wales, where he worked with a wide range of manufacturing companies supporting their research needs and providing certification advice.
