Peter F. Masibo Lumala
Peter F. Masibo Lumala is currently a visiting professor at Brian Lamb School of Communication, Purdue University, USA, where he is teaching intercultural communication, global public relations and gender, communication and development. He is also a senior lecturer at the School of Information Sciences, Department of Communication Studies, Moi University, Kenya. He holds a Ph.D. in applied linguistics (specializing in communication) from the University of Nottingham, UK. He has over fourteen years of teaching gender and communication, advocacy and campaigns, and strategic communication. He has published widely in the areas of gender, media, and communication and culture. His latest publication ‘Language, gender and leadership: Applying the sociolinguistics of narrative and identity in East Africa’ appears in Professional Communication by Mullany, L. (ed.) (2020). He is currently co-editing The Handbook of Communication in Africa: Theory, Research and Praxis to be published in 2021 by Routledge. Besides academia, Masibo has served as a director for the Tourism Research Institute in Kenya, is a current member of the Africa Tourism Board and provides consultancy services in gender, communication and strategic planning.
